Odisha Legislative Assembly session to begin on February 13
Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: The third session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to commence on February 13, with Speaker Surama Padhy emphasizing the importance of a productive session. Addressing the media, Padhy welcomed constructive suggestions from opposition parties while warning against disruptions or obstructions during the proceedings.
“The ruling party will present the budget, and constructive suggestions from opposition parties will be acceptable. However, creating ruckus or obstruction in the Assembly will not be tolerated. Opposition parties should play a constructive role and offer valuable suggestions,” stated Speaker Padhy, adding that an all-party meeting would be scheduled soon, although the date is yet to be finalized.
The session will open with the Governor’s address on February 13, followed by a two-day discussion on February 14 and 15. The 28-day session will include three days for official business and three days for non-government business.
The state budget will be presented on February 17, with general discussions on February 20 and 21. From February 22 to March 6, various standing committees will review the budget and submit their reports on March 7. The session will conclude on March 29 with the presentation of the Appropriation Bill.
