Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: A 25-year-old Navy officer from Odisha’s Ganjam district, Acting Leading Communicator (AGL Com.) Saurabh Kumar Patra, has been reported missing since Sunday after leaving for Kochi.

Saurabh, who joined the Navy in 2019, was posted at the Kochi Naval base. He had returned to Berhampur on December 28 for a brief vacation. According to a police complaint filed by his uncle, Amulya Jena, Saurabh left home on Sunday to return to work but never reached Kochi or his workplace at INS Garuda.

Saurabh boarded a train to Visakhapatnam, intending to catch a flight to Kochi. However, his phone was switched off, and his last known location was traced to Visakhapatnam. Despite extensive searches by family members and inquiries with relatives and the Navy base, no trace of him has been found.

Fearing foul play, the distressed family suspects he might have been kidnapped and has appealed to the police and Navy for assistance in locating him. The case remains under investigation.
