Youth attempts suicide over land dispute in Kamakhyanagar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: In a distressing incident, a youth identified as Pravat Rout from Kanpura village attempted to end his life outside the Kamakhyanagar tehsil office on Tuesday.
The act was reportedly driven by a 30-year-old land dispute involving his family and one Balabhadra Rout. Pravat alleged that his family had temporarily handed over land to Balabhadra with documented proof, but the latter now refuses to return it, allegedly using fake documents.
Expressing his frustration, Pravat stated, “The Collector assured my mother that the issue would be resolved, and officials had promised a land demarcation today. However, the RI office staff abused and threatened us when we followed up.”
Kamakhyanagar police rushed to the scene after being alerted, rescuing Pravat and admitting him to Kamakhyanagar Medical for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to resolve the matter and address the allegations made by Pravat and his family.
