Puri Police enforce ban on mobile phones inside Shree Jagannath Temple
Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: In an effort to uphold the sanctity of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri police have taken strict measures to prevent the entry of mobile phones into the sacred premises. On Tuesday, posters were prominently displayed around the 12th-century shrine with the warning: “Mobile Phones are strictly prohibited inside Shree Jagannath Temple. Violators will be penalized and prosecuted as per law.”
Puri SP Vinit Agrawal urged devotees to cooperate with the rule. “I appeal to all visitors to refrain from carrying smartphones or cameras inside the temple premises to maintain its sanctity,” he said.
The police action follows a recent controversy involving a viral video of the temple's sanctum sanctorum. SP Agrawal confirmed that a case has been registered and assured that those responsible will be apprehended.
He also revealed a separate incident where a drone was detected near the temple. The operator was caught, the drone seized, and legal action initiated.
Authorities continue to emphasize strict vigilance to preserve the temple’s spiritual atmosphere.
