Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued a moderate to dense fog warning for 10 districts in Odisha over the next two days.
On Tuesday, fog is expected in Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Koraput, and Cuttack. The IMD also predicts light to moderate fog in Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh on Wednesday.
The return of cold wave conditions has intensified winter in parts of Odisha. Lamtaput block in Koraput district witnessed snowfall on Monday after the minimum temperature dropped below 5°C on Sunday.
G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4.8°C, followed by Semiliguda (7.2°C), Daringibadi and Jharsuguda (9°C), Rourkela (9.5°C), and Bhadrak (10°C). Other regions, including Keonjhar, Koraput, and Bhawanipatna, also experienced chilly nights.
The IMD has forecast the winter chill to persist for the next four to five days, urging residents to prepare accordingly.
