Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: In a tragic road accident, a woman and her husband lost their lives, while three others sustained critical injuries when a truck rammed into an auto rickshaw near Bandala Chhak in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the Tangi area as the auto rickshaw, carrying five passengers, was en route from Cuttack to Chandikhol. The truck hit the vehicle from behind, causing two passengers to die instantly. The critically injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, and their bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. Highway police and emergency services arrived promptly at the scene after being alerted.

Authorities have seized the auto rickshaw and initiated an investigation into the accident. This tragic incident highlights the pressing need for stricter traffic regulations and awareness campaigns to prevent such mishaps.
