PM Modi calls on diaspora to propel india’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047
Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, emphasized India’s aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047 and called on the Indian diaspora to play a pivotal role in this journey.
“India gained independence in 1947, and our diaspora played a significant role in achieving this. Now, we aim to transform India into a developed nation by 2047,” PM Modi said during the event's inaugural session.
Acknowledging the contributions of the diaspora, he highlighted their efforts in making India the global leader in remittances. “It is due to your hard work that India stands number one in remittances worldwide,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister urged the diaspora to promote India’s rich heritage and culture globally. He emphasized that India’s essence extends beyond its metropolitan cities, with vibrant cultural and historical treasures in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and villages.
“There is immense cultural wealth in these regions. You should encourage ‘heritage tourism’ and share India’s story with the world,” PM Modi stated. He also appealed to them to visit India’s lesser-known tourist destinations and inspire others to explore these places.
He further called on the diaspora to educate their host nations about India’s history, including its prosperity, periods of subjugation, and struggles for freedom. “You must share the true history of India with the world, especially with today’s younger generations,” he added.
