Odisha's night temperatures to increase gradually over next four days

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: The minimum night temperatures in coastal and interior Odisha are expected to rise by 2°C to 4°C over the next four days, signaling the onset of a mild winter. Currently, coastal regions are experiencing temperatures that are 2°C to 3°C above normal, while some areas in interior Odisha have reported temperatures 1°C to 2°C below normal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in three districts: Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput. Light to moderate fog is also anticipated in Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Ganjam, and Kalahandi.
In the past 24 hours, Daringbadi recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5°C, while Koraput reported 9.4°C, Similiguda 9.6°C, and Phulbani 10°C. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar registered a minimum temperature of 14.5°C.
Very dense fog was observed in Rourkela, with dense fog also reported in Koraput, Phulbani, and Chandbali. In light of the weather conditions, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has instructed District Collectors and the Transport Department to closely monitor expressways and accident-prone roads, particularly between 2:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
