Imposter duo allegedly posed as PM’s aides, amassed crores: I-T Raids intensify

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: Income Tax officials continued their simultaneous raids on properties linked to the alleged imposter duo, Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty, for a second consecutive day on Wednesday. The searches, which began on Tuesday, spanned multiple locations, including Bhubaneswar, Delhi, and Jharkhand. The investigation aims to uncover the source of Hansita's income and scrutinize the couple’s financial dealings.
On Wednesday, I-T officials raided the residence of Hansita's father-in-law, senior Congress leader Seemanchal Acharya, in Acharya Colony, Baliguda, located in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. Hansita married Seemanchal's son, Manoj Acharya, in 2020. Manoj, a former Baliguda NAC councilor, also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Kandhamal seat as a Congress candidate.
Tuesday's raids targeted Hansita’s dhaba and bar in Delhi, Anil’s ancestral house in Nayapalli, his office in Mancheswar, and Hansita’s residence near AIIMS. The duo, infamously dubbed the “real-life Bunty-Babli,” stands accused of impersonating relatives of PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to amass unaccounted wealth and evade taxes.
Despite not being married, Hansita and Anil lived together in a luxurious apartment in Raghunathpur, posing as husband and wife. Their alleged modus operandi involved masquerading as the daughter and son-in-law of PK Mishra, deceiving individuals and businesses into believing they held influential connections.
