Dense fog and chilly weather disrupt normal life across Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: Several parts of Odisha woke up to dense fog and cold weather on Monday, disrupting vehicular traffic and daily activities as visibility dropped to as low as 50 meters in some areas.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Bhubaneswar, districts like Phulbani, Dhenkanal, and Angul were shrouded in dense fog. Visibility in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack ranged between 50 and 200 meters, affecting commuters.
Temperatures remained below normal across the state, with Bhubaneswar recording a minimum temperature of 14.5°C and Cuttack at 14°C. G Udayagiri retained its title as the coldest place in Odisha for the fourth consecutive day, registering 5°C, slightly higher than the previous day’s 4.6°C.
The IMD has forecast a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2°C-3°C from Monday night. While the weather is expected to remain dry over the next three days, moderate to dense fog is likely in Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Keonjhar districts.
