Rain likely in several Odisha districts this weekend: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in several parts of Odisha this weekend, attributed to a western disturbance that is likely to bring light to moderate showers.
According to the regional meteorological office in Bhubaneswar, districts such as Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Sonepur, and Sambalpur are expected to experience rain on Saturday. On Sunday, rainfall is forecasted for Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.
The IMD has also warned of a significant drop in nighttime temperatures across the state starting December 30, potentially leading to colder conditions during New Year’s celebrations.
Meanwhile, coastal areas and their neighboring regions are unlikely to see rainfall, although partly cloudy skies may prevail, according to the meteorological center.
