Vigilance officials nab two Textile Inspectors for corruption in Boudh district

Bhubaneswar, Dec 20: Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested two Textile Inspectors, Krushna Chandra Sahu and Adit Kumar Das, who were stationed in the office of the Assistant Director of Textiles in Boudh district. They were apprehended for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 each from a complainant seeking assistance with official processes.
The complainant, a member of a weavers' cooperative society in Bounsuni, approached the inspectors to expedite the processing of a file and facilitate the release of a bill from the BCCB Bank in Boudh for the supply of weaving materials, specifically sarees.
Following the acceptance of the bribe, vigilance officials recovered the entire amount from the inspectors. In the wake of this operation, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations associated with each inspector to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
The Berhampur Vigilance wing has registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with authorities looking into the inspectors' financial dealings.
