Central team in Bhubaneswar to discuss integration of AB-PMJAY with Odisha’s GJAY

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: A three-member Central team arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday to finalize plans for integrating Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) with Odisha’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY).
Led by National Health Authority (NHA) CEO LS Changsan, the team held discussions with Health and Family Welfare Secretary Aswathy S, NHM Director Dr. Brundha D, and other senior officials to address challenges in merging the two schemes seamlessly.
The delegation also met Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling to deliberate on the integration process. GJAY, earlier known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), offers cashless treatment of ₹5 lakh per family annually, with an additional ₹5 lakh for women beneficiaries. Launched in 2018 by the BJD government, it differed from the Central scheme in beneficiary count and eligibility criteria.
The proposed merger aims to enhance healthcare coverage through a unified health card system, with the Odisha government preparing to sign an MoU for implementing AB-PMJAY.
