BJP MP Pratap Sarangi injured amid heated protest in Parliament
Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: BJP MP Pratap Sarangi sustained a head injury during a heated protest on Parliament premises on Thursday, sparked by allegations of an insult to BR Ambedkar. Sarangi claimed he was injured after being pushed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. "I suffered a head injury because Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP, who then fell on me," Sarangi told reporters.
Congress, however, alleged that BJP MPs had pushed their leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, near the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi defended himself, stating, "I was trying to enter Parliament, which is my right. BJP members attempted to block my entry. This is about more than access; they are attacking the Constitution and Ambedkar Ji’s legacy."
The Congress also accused Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Ambedkar, calling the alleged offence "unpardonable." They claimed the government was shielding him, intensifying tensions between the two parties during the protest.
