Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: In a heart-wrenching accident, a 10-year-old boy, Shubhankar Nayak, lost his life, while his mother, Jyotsnarani Nayak, and elder brother, Subham Nayak, sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding car near Kulurukumpa Chhack under Banigocha police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Monday morning.

According to reports, the tragedy unfolded when Jyotsnarani was standing by the roadside with her two sons. A car, reportedly en route to Sonepur, veered out of control and ran over the family. Shubhankar died instantly, leaving his mother and brother severely injured.

Local residents immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the minor's body was sent for post-mortem. Banigocha police seized the vehicle and detained the driver for questioning.

The incident has shocked the local community, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic rules to prevent such tragedies.
