Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: An elderly man’s body was discovered lying on the road in the Birabandha area under Airfield police limits in Bhubaneswar, sparking suspicions of foul play. The deceased has been identified as Bauribandhu Behera, a resident of the same locality.

Local residents reportedly spotted the body late on Tuesday night and immediately informed the authorities. Upon initial inspection, police found injury marks on the body, leading to the suspicion that Behera was murdered and his body abandoned on the road. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred late Tuesday night.

A team from the Airfield police station rushed to the scene, secured the area, and sent the body to Capital Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder. The police are also questioning locals and gathering evidence to trace the perpetrators of the crime.
