Man killed over witchcraft suspicion in Koraput district

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: In a shocking case of superstition, a man was brutally killed on suspicion of witchcraft following the sudden death of a woman at Jharapa village under Bandhugaan block in Odisha's Koraput district on Sunday night.
Reports indicate that Jangama Minaka, a resident of the village, passed away suddenly at her home due to illness. Her relatives, suspecting black magic as the cause of her death, blamed Shiva Minaka, another villager. Driven by vengeance, they attacked and killed Shiva Minaka.
After the murder, the villagers took Jangama's body to the crematorium for her last rites. Shockingly, they later cremated Shiva's body at the same site, attempting to conceal the crime.
When contacted, officials from the Bandhugaan police station stated they were unaware of the incident. No formal complaint has been lodged, and tension has engulfed the village. The killers reportedly threatened residents with dire consequences if they revealed details about the crime, leaving the community in fear.
