Truck trapped for days in Odisha after following Google Maps

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: A truck carrying rice from Visakhapatnam to Raipur narrowly escaped a serious incident after becoming stranded while following directions from Google Maps. The truck has been stuck for three days at Gajalbadi Ghat in Kandhamal district.
According to reports, the driver relied on the online navigation tool in search of a shortcut. Unfortunately, the map directed him onto a narrow and unsuitable road in Gajalbadi Ghat, causing the truck to get lodged and significantly disrupting other vehicles using the route. Frustrated by the situation, the driver lamented, "The vehicle got damaged, and so far no administrative officials have come to my rescue."
This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of depending solely on GPS navigation without verifying routes beforehand. A similar mishap occurred on November 23 in Uttar Pradesh, where a car carrying three people plunged into a river from an under-construction bridge. The vehicle was heading to Bareilly for a wedding when Google Maps led them onto an unsafe route.
