Low-pressure system forms over Bay of Bengal, no impact on Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: A low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal today, moving west-northwestward towards Tamil Nadu and likely brushing past Sri Lanka around December 12. While the system may intensify slightly, significant intensification is unlikely. Importantly, the low-pressure system is not expected to impact Odisha.
However, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are forecasted to experience heavy rainfall on December 11 and 12. Coastal Andhra Pradesh may also witness some rainfall during this period.
For Odisha, light to moderate rain is possible in some coastal and southern regions until December 12, but no significant rainfall is predicted beyond that. From December 12 to 14, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state.
Meanwhile, colder conditions are anticipated to intensify in Odisha from December 12, with temperatures likely to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Residents should prepare for cooler weather in the coming days, as predicted by the regional center of the IMD.
