President Droupadi Murmu offers prayers at Puri Jagannath Temple

Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: President Droupadi Murmu visited the iconic Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha today as part of her five-day tour of the state. Arriving at the temple around 10 a.m., she was warmly received by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, and other dignitaries.
In a gesture that broke protocol, the President chose to walk from her car to the temple, interacting with devotees and touching the Aruna Stambha, a symbolic pillar, before entering the premises. Inside the temple, she offered prayers to the deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra, seeking their blessings for the nation's prosperity. She also visited the Bimala and Lakshmi temples within the complex to offer prayers.
To ensure smooth arrangements, public entry to the temple was restricted during her visit, but thousands lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the President. Later, she expressed her heartfelt wishes, saying, “I prayed for the happiness, well-being, and prosperity of the people of Odisha and the nation.”
