Odisha agricultural income revealed: Monthly average at Rs 5,112

Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: In a session of the state Assembly on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo revealed that the average monthly income of agricultural households in Odisha is Rs 5,112, according to data from the National Statistical Office (NSO). This information was provided in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati.
Bahinipati inquired about the annual income per head of agricultural households in Odisha, along with details regarding the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy set by the state government. He also asked for information on the production costs incurred by farmers to cultivate one quintal of paddy, distinguishing between irrigated and non-irrigated land.
In his response, Singh Deo stated that for the 2024-25 fiscal year, the MSP for common paddy has been fixed at Rs 2,300 per quintal. However, with additional state support, the total assistance for farmers amounts to Rs 3,100 per quintal. Additionally, the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) has determined that the cost of paddy production in Odisha is Rs 2,067 per quintal.
