Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: A hotel owner sustained critical injuries after being assaulted by a group of miscreants near Samalpur Chhak under the Industrial Police Station in Balasore district on Friday. The victim, identified as Sanjib Kumar Mohapatra, a resident of the Balia area, was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack stemmed from past animosity. The miscreants reportedly ambushed Mohapatra while he was returning from his hotel.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Industrial Police Station and Town Police Station officers launched a joint investigation. Authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity and questioning potential witnesses to ascertain the identities of the attackers.

The incident has raised concerns among local business owners, prompting demands for stronger security measures in the area. Police have assured swift action to apprehend the culprits and prevent such incidents in the future.
