Seven arrested in connection with Sundargarh nomad family murder

Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Twenty-two days after the brutal murder of a nomadic family in Karamdihi, Sundargarh, police have apprehended seven suspects from Maharashtra and Karnataka. The arrests followed an intensive operation led by Sundargarh SP Pratyush Diwakar, with a special team conducting coordinated raids across multiple locations.
The gruesome incident took place on October 29 when a rival nomadic group attacked and killed five members of a family near Karamdihi village. The assailants also kidnapped five others, sparking a massive manhunt by local authorities. The crime is believed to have been motivated by a personal feud stemming from an alleged illicit relationship.
DIG of Police (Western Range) Birjesh Kumar Rai and SP Pratyush Diwakar personally visited the crime scene to assess the situation. The bodies were sent for autopsy, and a thorough investigation was launched. Police have intensified efforts to ensure the safety of the abducted individuals and prevent further violence.
