Jewellery worth ₹25 lakhs looted by armed miscreants in Keonjhar
Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Six armed miscreants looted jewellery worth ₹25 lakhs from a businessman and his son near Urti Chhak under Champua police station limits in Keonjhar district late on Tuesday night.
Hiranyamayee Sahoo, who runs Om Jewellery at Urti Square, was returning home with his youngest son around 9 PM when the incident occurred. The robbers, armed with guns and sharp weapons, intercepted the duo and demanded the jewellery bag. Despite initial resistance, the father and son were brutally assaulted, forcing them to surrender the bag containing the valuables.
The miscreants fled on two motorcycles towards Karanjia Road. Sahoo immediately alerted locals, who attempted to chase the robbers but failed to apprehend them.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. A search operation is underway to trace the robbers, while the victims are recovering from their injuries. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
