Bank employee’s dismembered body found on railway tracks in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: The dismembered body of a bank employee was discovered on the railway tracks near Kendupada railway station in Bhadrak district, Odisha, sparking shock and grief in the local community.
The deceased, identified as Lalatendu Barik, hailed from Sherpur village in Kedarpur panchayat under the Sabrang police limits. Lalatendu worked at the Union Bank of India. He had left the bank on Thursday evening but failed to return home, prompting a frantic search by his family. Late at night, they found his scooty abandoned near Kendupada railway station. Soon after, his mutilated body was found on the tracks.
Upon being informed, the police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, preliminary investigations suggest that Lalatendu may have died by suicide, jumping in front of a speeding train. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death.
