Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: Two minor children suffered horrific abuse at the hands of their mother and her partner for objecting to their illicit relationship. The incident occurred in Mahavir Bastee, Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the mother's partner, Gudu Nayak, branded the children with hot iron rods multiple times, allegedly at the mother's behest. The children were punished for opposing their mother's relationship.

Maitree Vihar police rescued the children and admitted them to hospital for treatment. The mother was detained for questioning. Gudu Nayak was arrested after a series of raids.

Gudu confessed to the crime during interrogation. The illicit relationship began 7 months ago, during the children's father's absence. The children were locked in a room for 3 days as punishment.

This disturbing case highlights the need for increased awareness and support for child welfare and protection.
