Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: In a tragic incident, U Bishnu Patra, a woman who sustained critical head injuries during a chain-snatching attempt, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday after a three-day struggle. The assault occurred on Monday when Bishnu and her husband were en route to Harirajpur’s Somanath Temple from Bhubaneswar.

While riding pillion on her husband’s bike, two assailants on another bike began pursuing them, attempting to snatch her gold chain. When their initial attempt failed due to the chain’s thickness, the attackers intensified their pursuit. They launched a second, more aggressive attempt, during which Bishnu suffered severe head injuries as the assailants struck her in an effort to snatch her jewelry.

Despite her injuries, Bishnu raised an alarm, frightening the attackers and forcing them to flee. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but, despite medical efforts, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday evening. The incident has left her family and community in deep grief.
