Two young boys found drowned in Dhenkanal village pond after bathing

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: In a heart-wrenching incident on Thursday, two young cousins drowned in a village pond at Ekatali village in Dhenkanal district. The victims, Subham Behera (7), the youngest son of Prashant Behera, and Ganeswar Behera (8), the youngest son of Sushant Behera, tragically lost their lives.
The two boys had gone to the pond for a bath before heading to a nearby temple to participate in the Bada Osa festival. However, due to apparent carelessness, they slipped and fell into the water, unable to save themselves from drowning. When the boys did not return home as expected, their anxious family members launched a frantic search, but initially could not locate them.
Later, villagers discovered the bodies floating in the pond and immediately rushed them to a local hospital, where they were sadly pronounced dead. Kamakhyanagar police, alerted by a tip-off, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The tragic incident has left the family and community devastated.
