Man impersonating police officer arrested for extortion in Boudh

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Boudh police have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a police officer and extorting money from villagers. The accused, Sharat Behera, a resident of Nakuanali village, was reportedly using a fake police uniform to deceive and intimidate locals into handing over money.
The incident took place in Chandipur village, within the Boudh police limits, where Behera and a group of accomplices were posing as police officers to demand money from unsuspecting villagers. Their actions raised suspicions among the villagers, who decided to confront them. While four of the impersonators managed to flee, Behera was caught on the spot.
Upon receiving information, Boudh police promptly arrived at the scene, arresting Behera and seizing items used in the deception, including a fake police ID, a belt, and a mobile phone. Behera was presented in court, while a search operation is underway to locate and arrest the remaining accomplices, according to Inspector Ranjit Kumar Muni of the Boudh police station.
