Former Sarpanch murdered in Bhadrak, body found near canal

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: A former Sarpanch and ex-president of the Ambaroli Cooperative Society, Chitta Ranjan Rout, was allegedly murdered on Wednesday while returning home after attending a religious programme at Bandhagaon village in Bhadrak district.
Reports reveal that Rout had participated in an ‘Asta Prahari’ event the previous night. When he failed to return home, his family began searching for him, only to find his blood-soaked body near a canal. Preliminary investigations suggest that Rout suffered multiple fatal injuries, including severe head trauma and several lacerations across his body, indicating a brutal attack that led to his death.
Upon receiving a tip-off, Bhadrak Rural Police swiftly arrived at the crime scene and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the murder. The shocking incident has left the local community in disbelief, as Rout was known for his kindness, integrity, and dedication to public service. He had no known disputes or rivalries, according to family members and locals.
