Similipal welcomes tigress Jamuna to its core area habitat
Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: Tigress Jamuna, recently relocated from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has been released into the core area of Similipal Forest, announced Dr. Samrat Gowda, Deputy Director of Similipal South Wildlife Division, on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Jamuna left her enclosure around 10 a.m. and ventured into the dense core region of the forest.
“Our trained monitoring team is closely tracking her movements,” Dr. Gowda stated.
Jamuna now joins 28 rare melanistic tigers in the heart of the Similipal forest.
Notably, Jamuna arrived at Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve on October 27 and was initially placed in a soft enclosure the following day. After a brief acclimation period, she has now been fully released into the reserve's core area.
