Boipariguda CHC officer and pharmacist caught taking ₹40,000 bribe

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: Vigilance officials have arrested the Medical Officer In-Charge of Boipariguda Community Health Centre (CHC), Dr. Biswajit Bhuyan, and pharmacist Uttam Mahankuda from a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) under the National Health Mission (NHM) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.
According to a statement by the Vigilance Department, the duo was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a CHC staff member in exchange for releasing her arrear salary. The entire amount has been recovered and seized from the accused.
Dr. Bhuyan is no stranger to allegations of corruption, having previously faced accusations of demanding bribes and misusing CHC vehicles.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Dr. Bhuyan and one location connected to Mahankuda to investigate their assets and potential disproportionate wealth.
