Driver dies, over 30 hurt as bus flips in Nayagarh district

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: A bus driver was killed, and over 30 passengers were injured when the vehicle overturned at Surada Square near Nuagaon in Nayagarh district on Friday.
The accident occurred when the bus, en route from Raikia to Bhubaneswar, struck a road divider, causing it to flip. There were more than 40 passengers aboard at the time of the crash. Locals quickly rushed to the scene, rescuing the injured and taking them to the Community Health Centre in Daspalla and other nearby state-run health facilities for initial treatment. Later, the injured were transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh, with around eight passengers reported to be in critical condition.
The SDPO, along with a police team, arrived at the scene to assist with the rescue operation, as some passengers are believed to be trapped under the overturned bus. Authorities are using a gas cutter to retrieve the body of the driver, who was crushed beneath the vehicle.
