College Principal warns of cyber fraud targeting students for inflated marks in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: The Principal of Phulbani Government Junior College has acted swiftly in response to a cyber fraud targeting students. A complaint was lodged with the Kandhamal cyber police station after discovering that a fraudster had been calling students and their parents, demanding Rs 5,000 in return for inflated exam scores.
According to the complaint, the scammer, using mobile number 6370871728, has been making threatening calls, leaving students and their families anxious about their academic futures. Principal Jyoti Prakash Rath, alerted by distressed students, immediately called for action against the perpetrator.
College authorities have advised students and parents to stay alert and ignore such suspicious calls. Reports indicate that students from Raikia Jeevan Jyoti College have also received similar calls from the same number, prompting the principal there to file a complaint at Raikia Police Station.
“The fraudster has targeted science students, promising higher practical marks in board exams,” Principal Rath said. “This disturbing scam has spread to other colleges, using the same contact number."
