Action against inefficient revenue staff: Odisha govt issues directive

Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh has instructed all District Collectors to review the performance of field staff and consider premature retirement for those deemed non-performing or poor-performing.
In his directive, Singh emphasized the crucial role of Revenue Inspectors (RIs), Assistant Revenue Inspectors (ARIs), and Amins in achieving the state government's objectives in revenue administration. He noted that these officials are key to delivering services to the public, particularly tenants, at the grassroots level.
Singh expressed concern over numerous complaints about the inefficiency of these field staff. Many grievances have been lodged regarding their prolonged tenure in one location, delays in processing mutation and conversion cases, and overall lack of efficiency. Additionally, the practice of posting these officials in their own tehsil was criticized for compromising impartiality.
District Collectors have been asked to review the situation and submit reports on the actions taken over the past four years to address these issues.
