SJTA begins restoration of cracked Meghanada Pacheri at Puri Srimandir

Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has initiated a cleaning and maintenance drive on the Meghanada Pacheri, the large boundary wall encircling the Puri Srimandir, after reports of cracks and algae growth surfaced. The iconic wall, which holds significant architectural and religious importance, has been showing signs of wear, with multiple cracks and patches of algae affecting its structure.
On Monday, SJTA workers began cleaning the wall to remove the algae, aiming to prevent further deterioration. Despite these efforts, wastewater from the nearby Ananda Bazaar continues to seep through the cracks, contributing to the wall's gradual weakening.
Expressing concern over the wall's condition, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee assured that comprehensive repair and restoration work would commence soon to preserve the historic structure. The administration remains committed to safeguarding the sanctity and integrity of the Srimandir's boundaries while addressing the underlying issues contributing to the damage.
