CDPO removed after allegations of negligence in clerk’s miscarriage in Kendrapara

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: Kendrapara district authorities have removed Derabish Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Snehalata Sahoo from her position following allegations of negligence that led to the miscarriage of a woman clerk in her office.
The Odisha government has instructed Kendrapara District Collector Smruti Ranjan Pradhan to conduct an independent and swift investigation into the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry report.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women & Child Development, Pravati Parida, asked a detailed report from the district collector on Tuesday. Expressing her condolences, Parida also spoke personally with Barsha Priyadarshini Mohapatra, the affected clerk.
Mohapatra, who was seven months pregnant, reportedly experienced labor pain and requested permission from the CDPO to leave for the hospital. However, Snehalata Sahoo allegedly denied her permission despite the medical emergency. As a result, Mohapatra was unable to receive timely medical care and tragically delivered a stillborn baby.
