Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: Two labourers from Odisha were among the three people killed in a tragic accident at the Patna Metro construction site on Tuesday night. Additionally, six labourers from Odisha sustained injuries.

The incident occurred when a loco pickup malfunctioned, running over several workers. Officials stated that the situation could have been more catastrophic had the accident happened during the daytime, as approximately 25 workers were on-site at the time.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Odisha Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia expressed his condolences, calling the incident “very unfortunate.” He assured that the Odisha government would provide compensation to the victims' families and coordinate with the Bihar government for further support.

Patna District Magistrate Chandrasekhar confirmed that three individuals, including a pilot, lost their lives in the accident. Five injured workers are currently receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), with officials closely monitoring their recovery.
