Four officials suspended in Odisha for misconduct, neglect during Cyclone Dana

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: The Odisha government has suspended four officials, including three Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) and one Revenue Inspector (RI), for neglecting their duties during Cyclone Dana.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari stated that the suspended officials displayed inappropriate and insensitive behavior toward the public during the cyclone, prompting disciplinary action.
Minister Pujari emphasized that the government will not tolerate any neglect in times of crisis, adding that officials who fail in their responsibilities will face consequences. Conversely, employees who carried out their duties effectively and assisted the public will be recognized and rewarded.
Along with the suspensions, the minister has requested reports from district collectors on other employees who may have violated government protocols.
“The government is currently assessing the damage from Cyclone Dana, with an initial report already submitted. Further evaluation, including an aerial survey, will help determine the full extent of the damage. Once weather conditions improve, officials will conduct on-ground inspections in affected areas,” Pujari noted.
