Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her stepmother for eating Dahi Bara in Podasahu village, under Fategarh police limits in Nayagarh district, on Thursday.

According to reports, the stepmother, whose identity remains undisclosed, became enraged after discovering that the teenager had eaten Dahi Bara, a popular Odia snack, which the stepmother had kept for herself. In a fit of anger, she brutally assaulted her stepdaughter, leading to the girl's death.

Preliminary investigations suggest that following the fatal assault, the stepmother attempted to dispose of the body in a secluded area. However, she was apprehended by the police before she could carry out the act.

The accused is currently in police custody and being interrogated. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further details surrounding the circumstances of the crime.
