Cyclone Dana: Naveen Patnaik appeals for preparedness and cooperation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: With Cyclone Dana set to make landfall between the Bhitarkanika and Dhamra regions, Leader of Opposition (LoP) and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged the people of Odisha to stay prepared and support the administration in tackling the storm.
In a video message, Patnaik reassured residents that while the cyclone poses challenges, Odisha's past experiences demonstrate the state's ability to handle such natural disasters effectively. He highlighted Odisha’s robust disaster management framework, which has successfully mitigated previous cyclones.
“Do not be frightened by the cyclone but remain vigilant. Life is precious, so stay safe. Extend full cooperation to the administration in combating the cyclone,” Patnaik said. He also appealed to elected representatives to stand by the people during these challenging times and offer assistance.
As Odisha prepares for Cyclone Dana, Patnaik expressed confidence in the state’s resilience. “Together, we will overcome this storm, just as we have done before. Jai Jagannath,” he concluded. Odisha’s effective handling of Cyclones Phailin (2013) and Fani (2019) earned global recognition, showcasing the state’s strength in disaster management.
