Odisha Vigilance arrests revenue official for accepting ₹20,000 bribe

Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested Vivekananda Tripathy, Assistant Revenue Inspector (RI) and In-charge RI of Sindurpur Revenue Circle under Binka Tehsil in Subarnapur district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.
This was the first installment of a total bribe demand of ₹60,000 to furnish an inquiry report required for converting agricultural land to non-agricultural purposes and issuing the Record of Rights (RoR) in favor of the complainant.
The Vigilance team conducted a trap operation and successfully recovered the entire bribe amount from Tripathy. Following his arrest, simultaneous searches were carried out at two premises linked to him to investigate potential disproportionate assets (DA).
A case has been registered at Sambalpur Vigilance under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway, and a detailed report on the case and related searches will be released soon.
