Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: Twenty National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are being mobilized to districts likely to be impacted by Cyclone Dana, expected to hit on Tuesday. These teams have been dispatched from the NDRF Third Battalion based in Mundli, Cuttack.
In the first phase, 10 teams have been deployed: one in Puri, two each in Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara, and one in Mayurbhanj. Equipped with advanced rescue and relief tools, these teams will assist in both rescue operations and post-cyclone restoration efforts.
"We have deployed 10 teams initially, and more will be sent if needed," said Bardhaman Mishra, Second-in-Commandant of the Third Battalion.
The Odisha government has requested the Centre for 10 additional NDRF teams to strengthen disaster response. Additional Special Relief Commissioner Padmanabh Behera has also written to the ADG Law and Order, seeking reinforcements from NDRF units stationed outside the state to handle potential cyclone damage.
The NDRF teams will remain stationed in the affected areas to assist with relief and recovery efforts throughout the aftermath.
