Robbers pose as security guards to target elderly couple in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Three young men robbed an elderly couple of cash and jewelry late Sunday night in Chandbali, Bhadrak district, Odisha. The victims, identified as Jaydev Rout and his wife, Sajani, had rented out a portion of their house to the three suspects, who claimed to be security guards working on the Bhadrak-Dhamra railway line.
The robbery occurred when the men knocked on the door late at night, requesting Sajani to let them in. As soon as she opened the door, the intruders brandished a knife, threatening the couple and demanding their valuables. Fearing for their lives, Jaydev and Sajani handed over jewelry and cash worth several lakhs.
The robbers fled on a bike, leaving the elderly couple traumatized. After the incident, the couple immediately reported the matter to the police, who reached the spot and began their investigation. However, the suspects remain at large.
