Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: The Balliguda police arrested a young woman on Sunday in connection with an acid attack on her father and brother in Kundeli village, located under Tumudibandh police limits in Odisha's Kandhamal district. The victims, identified as Mohan Pandar and his son Anuj, were targeted by Mohan’s daughter, Puspanjali Pandar, who allegedly conspired with her boyfriend, Bijya Majhi.

Reports indicate that Puspanjali and Bijya had been in a relationship that Mohan did not approve of. Bijya held Mohan responsible for his mother’s recent death, believing he had used black magic against her, prompting them to plot an attack as revenge. Bijya sourced acid from Kolkata and gave it to Puspanjali, who then poured it on her father and brother while they were asleep.

After a thorough investigation, the police arrested both Puspanjali and Bijya, who have confessed to their crime. Balliguda sub-divisional police officer Kamal Kumar Panda stated, “They were planning this attack and both have admitted to their involvement. We have also seized the remaining acid.” Mohan and Anuj have been admitted to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
