Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: In a tragic incident, a school teacher and his 16-year-old daughter lost their lives after being bitten by a venomous snake at their home in Charichaka village, Boudh district.

The victims have been identified as Sushant Kanhar and his daughter, Preeti Kanhar. The snakebite occurred while the two were sleeping at home. Upon hearing their cries of pain, other family members rushed to their aid and took them to Phulbani Hospital. Unfortunately, Preeti was declared dead upon arrival. Sushant, who was in critical condition, succumbed to the venom shortly after.

Preeti, a second-year Plus II student at an institution in Gania, had returned home for the Dussehra holidays.

The sudden loss of both father and daughter has left the family and local community devastated, casting a shadow of grief during the festive season. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions against snakebites.
