Servitor suspended for assaulting senior supervisor at Jagannath Temple

Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday suspended a servitor, Chandan Samatara, for allegedly assaulting senior temple supervisor Baxi Ramachandra Pratihari following an altercation over the sale of a sweet dish.
SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee took strict action against the Pantibadu servitor, banning him from entering the temple premises.
Sources revealed that Pratihari had recently taken steps to remove unauthorized vendors selling Rabidi at Anand Bazaar, an area within the temple complex, and evicted non-servitors. Enraged by this, Samatara, accompanied by another individual, attacked Pratihari near the temple’s Western Gate. Pratihari was found in a critical condition and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri for treatment.
Expressing concern over the incident, Dr. Padhee emphasized that disruptive behavior within the temple will not be tolerated. He assured that further action will be taken against any individuals involved in the assault.
