Ex-Kendrapara MLA Utkal Parida, known for his public service, no more

Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Utkal Keshari Parida, former Kendrapara MLA and district president of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), passed away today at the age of 65 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. His family confirmed the news, prompting an outpouring of condolences from politicians across party lines.
Parida's political career began during his college years when he served as the President of Salipur College Students' Union (1980-81). He later chaired the Derabish block and gained prominence in state politics. In 2004, he was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Kendrapara constituency, representing the Odisha Gana Parishad (OGP). He won the election with 60,848 votes, defeating BJP candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal.
From 2019 to 2023, Parida served as the President of BJD's Kendrapara district wing, solidifying his influence in regional politics. His demise marks the end of a long journey of public service, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and leadership.
