Six fishermen survive boat capsize, one missing in Balasore

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Six fishermen had a narrow escape after their boat capsized in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Talasari, under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district, Odisha, on Thursday. Unfortunately, one crew member is still missing, and rescue teams are conducting search operations to locate him.
The incident took place when the fishermen’s boat collided with another vessel and overturned due to strong waves and a high tide as they were returning from a fishing trip. Reports indicate that the group had set out early Thursday morning and was struck by another boat about 3 km from Talasari beach while sailing back with their catch.
The fishermen fell into the water but managed to swim ashore. However, two members sustained critical injuries and were admitted to Digha Hospital for treatment, while the others escaped with minor injuries.
The Talasari police and fire brigade have intensified the search to find the missing fisherman, hoping for a positive outcome.
