Wild boar attack leaves two critically injured in Talcher, four hurt in Puri
Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: A wild boar attack left two people, including a 10-year-old boy, critically injured in Mandalpada, Talcher, on Thursday morning. The victims, identified as 60-year-old Chaturi Naik and her neighbor, Raja Naik, were attacked at their homes.
According to eyewitnesses, the boar suddenly entered Chaturi’s house while she was working, inflicting severe injuries. Hearing her screams, family members rushed to help, which caused the animal to flee into Raja’s house nearby. The boar then attacked the boy, leaving him critically injured.
Locals managed to trap the boar by locking it inside a room. Both Chaturi and Raja were rushed to a government hospital near Mandapal, where their condition remains critical.
Shockingly, no forest department officials had reached the scene by the time of reporting.
In a separate incident on Thursday, four people were injured by wild boars in Dahani Gadia village under the Brahmagiri Range in Puri district, raising concerns about increasing human-wildlife conflict.
